The Southampton Children's Information Service is the key source of information in the City for parents, carers and professional looking to find childcare. The CIS takes, on average, over 210 enquiries every month from parents looking for childcare. Most of these come in the form of telephone enquiries, but we also have a shop-front location which is open 8.30 - 4.30 every weekday, so we do get people coming to see us as well. We also take the service out to parent and todller groups and events in the City. The Southampton Children's Information Service holds information on all registered childcare in the City. We offer a completely impartial service to parents who are looking for childcare. The information we give out is only as good as the information we get - so please help us to help you get more customers by keeping us up to date with any changes to the service you provide. The CIS advertises childcare job vacancies in the Southampton Daily Echo, School’s Out magazine and on this website and the national governement website, www.childcarelink.gov.uk. . Every week we send a list of all the job vacancies we hold to the national Jobcentre Plus call centre. We take information on working in childcare to parent and toddler groups, and to outreach events such as Lone Parent conferences and job scene roadshows. When we get a phone call or somebody drops into the CIS enquiring about childcare, we give/send out recruitment packs. These contain information relevant to working with children. We are open 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Monday to Friday, with an answerphone available at all other times.
